I have been living in the UK and London since 1994 where I completed my studies ( both BMUS and Postgraduate Degree) and made a career as a performing freelance saxophonist and saxophone tutor.
I'm half Australian and Half Italian and speak well three languages ( English, Italian and Spanish).
I enjoy teaching all kind of levels from beginners to advanced and also casual. I particularly feel I give more and succeed in my approach to teaching when I come across students who are passionate about their choice of instrument and moreover who consistent and focused.
I have a BMUS saxophone degree from the Birmingham Conservatoire and a Postgraduate degree from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. During my 5 academic years I was able to take part in courses training the student to become a successful tutor. I now teach at Highgate School, North London and I have also private students who come to my place for tuition. I also run regular workshops across the UK during the year for small groups and Big Bands.
The approach depends on the level of the level of the student first off all.
With beginners I use books such as 'Eyes and Ears' by James Rae so that they can learn how to read basic music while developing good technique on the saxophone. If the student is interested and wants some challenge I then start him/her off on preparing for gradings which can be both jazz or classical depending on the taste.
