I've been playing since the age of 12, roughly 28 years. Saxophone is my avocation, but I consider myself a musician -- the saxophone is merely a tool. In the past I have studied with Richard Gardzina and Jeff Coffin. I host the contemporary Jazz program PRIME CUTS on Maine Public Radio. Over the past few years I have become primarily a bari player, but still play a lot of tenor as well as some alto and soprano. I gravitate toward the more aggressive players and would say I derive my style from Pharoah Sanders, Chico Freeman, Tyrone Washington and others. I prefer David Murray to Michael Brecker and Zoot Sims to Stan Getz.
Some of the folks I have work with are: Tim Webb, Mike Walsh, Jonathan Blakeslee, Matt Langley, Richard Gardzina, Luther Gray, Jared Steer, Eddie Gale, Dick Griffin, Joan Hager, Sam Sherry, Chris Humphrey, Doug Beaulieu, Mark Barnette, Duane Edwards, Derek Kowg, Forbes Graham, Larry Gelberg, and Jonathan Paul. |
